welcome

New to Oakland Church?

We're really glad you're here!

If you're new to Oakland Church, or have been visiting for a little while, stop by the visitor's table in any of our lobbies after service where you'll find pastors and volunteers waiting to greet you and hear your story. You can also find out about the many ways to connect at Oakland Church.

We have 2 Sunday morning services

We are a unified church that recognizes the beauty of different worship styles. To that end, we offer two different Sunday morning contexts to better serve you & your family. Both services include the same sermon by Ps Randy, Ps Jeremy, or one of our team, and a passionate time of worship ministry led by Josh & Oakland Worship. Oakland Kids and our nursery is also available across both morning services.

8:30am (blended worship)

Located in our main sanctuary

This service has more liturgical elements, such as a traditional choir and music often accompanied by the organ.

11am (contemporary worship)

Located in the OMC, downstairs

This service has a more casual, modern feel, including music by a full band.

Oakland Church is a large, growing church in Johnstown, PA, with a vibrant history of more than 100 years—yet we remain more committed than ever to make passionate and compassionate followers of Jesus Christ. It doesn't matter if you come from a church background or if you forgot where you left your Bible years ago... you are welcome here!

We are a Global Methodist Church, and we celebrate the strong heritage of faith, revival, and vibrancy of Wesleyan teachings.

What to Expect

Teaching

Every week, Pastor Randy and our preaching team offer messages of faith and hope from the Bible. We believe the Scriptures are just as authoritative and transformative as the day they were written—and applying them to our lives will set us up for breakthrough, victory, and wholeness! Together our church explores a series week by week, whether a book of the Bible or a theme.

Worship

For more than 100 years, Oakland has had deep roots in worship ministry. Josh & the team lead both morning services, and the ministry is prayerfully designed to nourish a biblically faithful, vibrantly prophetic, multi-generational worship culture. Our 8:30 service is typically joined by our choir, and the 11:00 service features a full band of musicians.

Oakland Kids

It is a priority for us that families worship together. At a certain point during the service, children are dismissed to Oakland Kids, where they will continue worshiping, praying, building friendships, and having fun! Our mission is to partner with the Holy Spirit and families to help children discover, experience, and follow Jesus.

The Altar

In the Bible, an altar is a place of sacrifice and commemoration. It is important to us that people don't merely attend Oakland, but that they are transformed and strengthened by the Holy Spirit—and we believe this happens in a special way at the altar. Throughout the service, we welcome you to come to the altar to worship Jesus or to receive prayer.

We can't wait to see you this Sunday!
