Find your tribe at one of Oakland’s home groups! Groups of up to 15 gather for snacks and Bible study at various times throughout the week all over the city. Sign up to be part of a home group by clicking the link here, and we will get you plugged into a group that meets near you!

A class that dives into Oakland’s Core Values, Spiritual disciplines, what we believe as Global Methodists, and the history of Methodism and of Oakland Church. We will discuss ministries available at Oakland and take a Spiritual gifts inventory to see how you can fit in to ministry in our church.

You’ll learn quickly that we prioritize next gen ministry here at Oakland, and we are confident that your child will have a fantastic time at Oakland Kids building friendships, laughing A LOT, burning off energy, and of course learning to have true friendship with Jesus! Your teenager will love belonging to a community of faith with other teens in a casual atmosphere. And adults can serve with a crew who loves Jesus, loves to have a good time, and loves discipling teenagers! Oakland Students meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm (only when school is in session), as well as weekend trips, lock-ins, and more. See Student Director Jonluke Varner to volunteer. Young adults ages 18-30ish meet the first and third Sunday of each month for home group at Jonluke and Kara Varner’s house at 6 pm. The group does other activities also. Get connected via the Oakland Next Facebook group to know what is happening. (Jonluke Varner)

All ladies are invited to join us every fourth Saturday of the month at Panera at 8:30am to gather & grow! Plus we have painting parties, retreats, conferences, and more scheduled throughout the year—so keep your eyes peeled! See Joanne Stahl or call the church office for more information.

Twice a year, dozens of couples and singles complete this powerful video series by John & Lisa Bevere, hosted by Pastor Jeremy here at Oakland Church. Whether single, single again, engaged, or married, you will learn about God’s design for a healthy and holy marriage.

A group of widows that meets on the second Friday of each month at 6:30 pm in the parlor for a time of Bible study, fellowship and prayer. All widows are welcome! (Robin Hamilton)

People who are willing to provide help to widows with tasks they need done around their homes. Anyone who wants to volunteer their services or who agrees to charge a fair price for their service is asked to sign a list saying what they are available or able to help do. Get matched with a college student or military service member to stay in touch with them through cards, gifts, and encouragement throughout the school year. (Myrna Gilbert)

This team is responsible for organizing and counting the weekly offering. By appointment only. (Luana Belo)

Volunteers can help by providing food, serving, and/or cleaning up after the dinner which is provided for the children and youth attending Midweek on Wednesdays at 6 pm. (Iris Berardi)

Our music ministry exists to nourish a worship culture at Oakland Church that is biblically faithful, Spirit-filled, musically rich, and multi-generational. We have a wide, committed army of volunteers that make up Oakland Worship: musicians, vocalists, a traditional choir for our 8:30am service, a worship choir in our 11:00am service for special events and more. Ushers help people find seating as needed, as well as help with some service elements, such as directing people during Communion. (Pam Penatzer)

Our prayer team arrives early to pray with the pastors, worship team, and key members of the Sunday service and make themselves available to pray with people during altar calls. This ministry requires spiritual maturity, people skills, and the ability to keep in step with the Spirit. By appointment only.

Join us for this twice-a-month time of guided intercession and open-ended worship! This intimate, small service is perfect for soaking in the Presence of the Holy Spirit and receiving personal ministry. The Furnace Room is held in the Youth Room every first and third Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm.

Directed by Hunter Thomas, nearly one thousand kids from our community, ranging from Pre-K to sixth grade, compete in a friendly basketball tournament and cheerleading sessions each winter/spring — with Christian principles and Bible lessons at each practice and game.

Oakland Church’s food pantry is dedicated to serving families in our church and community with care, dignity, and the love of Christ. Donations of canned goods, other non-perishables, and basic need items can be placed on the table outside the door of the Giving Table. Get matched with a member of our congregation who is a shut-in or lonely, and connect with him or her through visits, phone calls, cards, etc. at least once a month. Call the church office to get in the loop.

A team who works during special meals and events. They help decorate and set up; or bake cookies, pies, and cakes; or serve where needed during special events. (Iris Berardi)

This team is made of up happy, friendly folks who serve on rotation to drive the church van to provide transportation to and from worship services (and sometimes other church events as needed). See David Long or call the church office to get connected. Thank you!

This team prepares and serves a meal for bereaved families on the day of a funeral. Because of the nature of this ministry, this team is happy to serve even with short notice. Please see Iris Berardi to join this team.

Every 2nd Saturday morning of the month, a small team has a blast cooking, preparing, and delivering soup to families in need. Come join us the next time we meet (9am in the Oakland Kitchen)—you’ll be happy you did!

Baking teams are assigned weeks to bake 6 dozen cookies at home and bring them to the church. Then teams go out on Friday mornings at 11:30 to deliver them to residents of Oakhurst homes. (Lacey and Jordan Grove)

We prioritize the safety and health of everyone who visits Oakland. To that end, our Safety Team is committed to being trained and prepared to ensure a smooth experience for everyone during Sunday services, midweek services, and special events. To join our Safety Team, you must pass a thorough background check and clearances, as well as complete several trainings.

Medical Team: This arm of the Safety Team is made up of doctors and nurses who are already present at our services and are trained to help should any issue arise, ranging from administering simple first aid to something more urgent. See Dr. John Morris to join this arm of the Safety Team.

Next Gen: This arm of the Safety Team ensures the protection of minors during services. This team works closely with Oakland Kids to ensure that only staff and those volunteers with the appropriate clearances are allowed to be in our kids wing, and monitors hallways and entrances. Security: This arm of the Safety Team monitors hallways, entrances, and security cameras to ensure Oakland Church remains safe. See Chuck Penatzer about ways to get involved.
