November 2015, We began our second stewardship campaign named, Rise Up Higher! On April 27, 2014, we voted to move forward and expand the ministry by building a Multi-Ministry center. The expansion would include: a two story education addition, a multi-ministry space (gym, worship, theater, seminar, and banquet space), and a foyer area with restrooms, storage, janitor’s closet, pre-meeting space. We contracted with Brickley Construction Company to build for the amount of $1,670,000. Funding would come from moneys already in the building fund, contributions from the first Capital Campaign, Rise Up (November 2013-2015), and a loan from the United Methodist Development Fund. Our April 27th vote approved borrowing up to $800,000 from UMDF at a 4.5% interest rate. We planned to pay off any borrowed money with the Rise Up Higher! Campaign, an extension of Rise Up Higher (if needed), and a move of God.
The pledges and non-pledged giving to the Rise Up Campaign came in at over 100%. As of April 23, 2017, (1 ½ years into the 3-year Rise Up Higher campaign), 113 individuals and families have pledged $578,876.00. We have received to date, $351,685.59 or 61% of the pledged amount. Of those gifts, $51,056.89 (9%) has been from non-pledged givers. The amount received from those pledges alone is $300,628.70 or 52%.
By adding more adult classrooms, a multi-ministry center (seating for 464 people) and banquet seating (seating 280 people) we are increasing the ways we can minister to and make disciples of ourselves, the community, and the world, giving us more opportunities to see the love and glory of Jesus Christ. Please, consider how God might want to use you in this God-sized vision:
- STEP 1 - Pray - Ask God how he wants you to participate in Rise Up HIGHER! Prayer is the first and most important step in preparing your heart to respond to God's call.
- STEP 2 - Consider your sacrifice. God does not expect equal gifts, but he does expect an equal sacrifice. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
- STEP 3 - Expect great things. Imagine future generations who will be reached because of our sacrifice. God always does more than we can dream. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen Ephesians 3:20-21
