Coming Up

at Oakland

December 2019

Oakland’s “Post Office” is officially open!

A beloved tradition here at Oakland is for our church family to share Christmas cards and special holiday notes with one other, and we offer a free “post office” for your use. If you would like to send a card, please drop it off at one of the tables in our Fellowship Hall—and check to see if anyone has left any cards or notes for you! All cards are arranged in alphabetical order. Thank you, and merry Christmas!

“Star Trip: Our Faith Awakens” OaklandKids Production
Sunday, December 15  |  8:30am & 11am Services  |  Oakland Church

During our regularly scheduled morning services, OaklandKids will be performing “Star Trip: Our Faith Awakens,” a musical retelling of the Nativity story… with a little Star Wars twist! Parents and grandparents, be sure to bring a camera for some adorable photo opportunities! Each morning service will also include a time of worship, prayer, and a message of hope by Pastor Randy. The 5pm service will not feature the children’s production but will run as normally scheduled.

“Messiah: Heaven’s Glory” Oakland Choir Cantata
Sunday, December 22  |  8:30am & 11am Services  |  Oakland Church

In conjunction with our continuing Christmas series, our Oakland Choir will lead us in worship with a selection of traditional carols and new favorites, at the 8:30am and 11am services. It is our prayer that you are filled with wonder, joy, and peace as you reflect on Christ. Both morning services will also include a message of hope and an opportunity for prayer.

Night of Prayer & Worship
Sunday, December 22  |  5pm Service  |  Oakland Church

On Sunday evening, December 22, during our regularly scheduled service, we will lean into the Advent season with extended worship and a time for ministry around the altar. We invite you to recalibrate your focus and heart in the Presence of Jesus, and to come expectant!

Christmas Eve
Tuesday, December 24  |  3pm, 5pm, and 7pm  |  Oakland Church

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And here at Oakland, we are ready to remember and celebrate the birthday of our Savior—the One who not only brings light, but is light. Our 3pm and 5pm services will have a contemporary feel, and our 7pm service will feature our Oakland Choir and a candlelight moment. Join us as we make Jesus our focus this Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas!
